Fluid Power (AU) were approached to design and manufacture a mobile hydro-cycloning unit for selective deposition of dewatered tailings. The mobile equipment platform selected was a CAT excavator. From that base Fluid Power (AU) designed and manufactured a bespoke boom to support the Hydrocyclone and a tailings hopper to enable management of cyclone overflow, both of which were fitted to the excavator.
Engineering Design was completed in 3D CAD with supporting DXF files produced for CNC Laser and Plasma cut plate processing
Boom fabrication was completed, pivot pin bosses welded in and line bored before blasting and painting
Cyclone Supporting Boom design replaced the original Caterpillar ‘Stick Boom’ and utilised the original ‘Stick Boom’ hydraulic cylinder. This boom design enables the hydro-cyclone mounted on the boom tip to be tilted down to ground level for maintenance purposes
